New trash enforcement rules

The City recently revised their regulations regarding putting trash out for pickup. In particular:

  • Refuse Containers, recycling bins, and yard waste must be placed on curb no earlier than Noon the day before collection or no later than 7am on the day of collection.
  • Cart and recycling bin must be removed from curb to a place not easily seen from the street facing the front of the house by 7PM the day after collection.
  • Garbage should be placed only in the 96 gallon (or 64 gallon) container supplied by the City of Raleigh. No trash outside the container will be picked up.

A warnings — and then a fine — may be issued by the City Code Enforcement Officer. The $50 civil penalty can be assessed for each 24-hour period in which the violation remains after the warning is issued.
